Nicholas Gates is a professional breakdancer, choreographer and instructor devoted to spreading the art and history of breakdance through a unique, fun, and versatile teaching style. He has choreographed for and opened at the sneak preview of Step Up in St. Louis and the grand opening of Macy's in St. Louis; he was selected as one of the top 50 dancers in the nation on the first season of FOX TV's So You Think You Can Dance; he appeared in Ebony Eyez music videos "In Ya Face" and "In Ya Face Remix," the No. 1 single of her debut album, 7 Day Cycle; he choreographed for and performed in the Hip-Hop segment of the St. Louis Art Museum's "A Music Review from African Drumming to Hip Hop;" he performed with the legendary breakdance company Rock Steady Crew for the "Sprite Liquid Mix" tour; he appeared in Nelly's music video, "Air Force Ones," a single from his second album, Nellyville; he performed with Wyclef, De La Soul, and Black Eyed Peas for MTV's Campus Invasion Tour in St. Louis; and he choreographed for and opened at a Chemical Brothers performance. He has served as a Head Dance Instructor at Althoff Catholic High School and hip-hop coordinator at Center of Creative Arts (COCA). He is a partner and the lead dancer for Utopia Entertainment (a full-service entertainment company that plans and hosts corporate parties, school dances, and private functions). He formed and trained a crew of six professional breakdancers and served as a Youth Peer Educator in "B-Boys and B-Girls of BABAA" (Blacks Assisting Blacks Against Aids). He has also been a featured model for varied media arts and functions. Recently, Gates was asked to dance on stage with Pharrell, one of the country's top music producers, at the Pageant during the N.E.R.D. concert.
