Maria Majors
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Maria received her dance training at Performing Arts Centre, Inc. She has also trained in New York City at Broadway Dance Center and received a full scholarship to study at STEPS On Broadway. Maria has been teaching and choreographing rhythm tap, jazz, and contemporary dance to students of all ages for over 12 years. Most recently she served as Artistic Director at Technique Studios. Maria was a full-time dance faculty member at COCA (Center of Creative Arts) for nine years. During that time, she held the positions of COCA's Tap Program Coordinator, Co-Artistic Director of the COCAdance student dance company, and Assistant Director of COCA's Pre-Professional Program. Maria has been awarded several first place titles for her rhythm tap and jazz choreography in competitive dance. She has instructed master classes all over the Midwest. Many of Maria's students are currently studying to earn degrees in dance and art in prestigious programs offered by such universities as New World School of the Arts, State University of New York at Purchase, Pointe Park University, George Mason University, and University of Missouri at Kansas City. Her students have gone on to dance professionally with acclaimed companies including Tap Dogs, Break The Floor, Jump, St. Louis Black Repertory Company, and the Municipal Opera of St. Louis. In addition to her teaching career, Maria has performed and toured internationally with Manhattan Tap, under the instruction of Artistic Director, Heather Cornell.
